The Association for Publishing Education<\/strong> supports and represents Higher Education institutions that offer Publishing studies. Membership is also open to those who work with those institutions, in whatever capacity. We welcome new members. Please email the Secretary: claire.squires@stirling.ac.uk<\/p>\n APE\u2019s individual and institutional members undertake a great variety of research in publishing and publishing studies, from scholarly articles and outputs to professional and practice-led projects.<\/p>\n APE Aims, Applications for Membership, Honorary Officers and Executive Committee\u00a0<\/span> Objects of the Association<\/span> The original Constitution of the Association is published here. Any changes to the original constitution are to be found in the Minutes of the Association.<\/p>\n Applications for Membership\u00a0<\/strong><\/span> Associate Institutional Members:<\/strong>\u00a0Over the years the Association has reached out to related bodies and organisations to join the Association as Associate Institutional Members. Such group associate membership entitles such organisations full participation in all of the activities of the Association, excepting any participation at the AGM in the election of the officers of the Association. Associate Institutional Members can be overseas’ universities, or faculties, or other organisations related to the fields of publishing and media education outside of the Higher Education sector, within or outside of the United Kingdom. Such bodies are welcome to join the Association at a reduced group rate.<\/p>\n Associate Individual Professional Members:<\/strong>\u00a0The Association is keen to hear from individuals or academics, from within or outside of the United Kingdom, who may wish to join the Association as a new class of Associate Individual Professional Member. Such individual applications will be considered by the Executive Committee.<\/p>\n Contact:<\/strong>\u00a0All enquiries for membership should be addressed to the Secretary of the Association: laura.dietz@anglia.ac.uk<\/a>. \n<\/strong><\/em>The Association was founded in 1999 at the inspiration of Professor Alistair McCleery of Napier University and Dr Joan Burks of London College of Communication.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>The Association’s objects (‘the objects’) are…
\n(1) to provide a common voice for the teaching of publishing in higher education
\n(2) to provide a forum for academic and professional concerns and for lobbying
\n(3) to monitor accreditation schemes
\n(4) to discuss education and curriculum development
\n(5) to represent publishing education issues to employers and the higher education sector
\n(6) to collect and share information on the teaching of publishing in higher education
\n(7) to promote and support academic research in publishing education.<\/p>\n
\nHE Institutional Members:<\/strong> The Association welcomes new full Institutional Members from any United Kingdom Higher Education Institution, University College, or Faculty or School thereof, who share its aims and objects. Institutional members can send representatives to any of the meetings, or activities, or conferences of the Association and can elect and can take part as Honorary Officers or as members of the Executive Committee.<\/p>\n
